Staff Accountant

Reports to: Administrative Coordinator and CFO

Allen Butler Construction, Inc. is seeking a motivated staff accountant to join our growing team. ABCI, is a local mid-sized heavy highway civil construction company, established in 1978.This is a great opportunity for the right candidate who enjoys accounting.

Position Summary: The Staff Accountant is responsible for all aspects of accounts receivable, & accounts payable. In addition he/she will assist in the month-end close and will be responsible for monthly account reconciliation and bank reconciliations.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Produce error-free accounting reports
  • Verify, allocate and post general ledger transactions and journal entries, including monthly accruals
  • Assist in monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
  • Assist with AR and reconciliation of Accounts Receivable
  • Prepare assigned general ledger account reconciliations monthly
  • Assist with month-end process
  • Assist with financial and tax audits as assigned and other special projects as directed
  • Comply with and monitor business processes and accounting policies to maintain internal controls

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Accounting
  • 0-3+ years of progressively responsible experience in accounting
  • Must have accounts receivable, accounts payable experience
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills
  • Advanced experience with MS Excel, MS Word and MS Outlook
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively, and work independently and in a team environment

  • $30-40k depending on experience

Jr. Estimator

Job Description

Allen Butler Construction, Inc. is seeking a Jr. Estimator. ABCI, is a local mid-sized heavy highway civil construction company, established in 1978. Work includes anything from major earth moving to bridge construction.

This team oriented position is responsible for assisting the estimator and project managers with all administrative work.

Jr. Estimator Responsibilities

  • Assist the estimating Department in solicitation of subcontractor bids and quantity takeoffs
  • Data entry of subcontractor proposals
  • Follow up and review of bids with Estimator and/or Project Manager
  • Review plans & Proposals
  • General office hours: Monday-Friday extended hours may be necessary on occasions.

Requirements Skills and Qualifications

  • Must be a self-starter and understand deadlines
  • Must have good phone and excellent people skills
  • Knowledge of civil construction terminology preferred
  • Computer literacy to include intermediate to advanced aptitude in Microsoft Office
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, well organized, tidiness, the ability to multi-task extremely well and prioritize
  • Experience reading and interpreting plans and specs
  • Ability to maintain high job standards and detail orientation in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and in a team setting
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively – both verbally and in writing
  • Must be able to maintain good relationships with project management team, peers, subcontractors, and owners
  • Honesty, integrity, loyalty, and the ability and willingness to make the Company’s best interests the number one priority

Education

Bachelors Degree in civil engineering, construction or similar preferred
